Meteorites are fragments of asteroids, Moon and Mars, which collide on their orbits around the sun with our Earth. Remaining internally unchanged on their fiery descent through the atmosphere they are, besides the Moon rocks and the dust grains from the Apollo and the Stardust missions, the only extraterrestrial matter, mankind can handle. Venerated throughout millennia as emissaries from the Gods, bequeathed in myths and historiography they are today unpayable subjects of modern research and space exploration. Meteorites are time capsules leading us back to the beginnings of the genesis of Sun and Planets. They are giving answers on the fundamental questions of the age of the World, the formation of Earth and finally the origins of life. Rare as diamonds they are covetable for the collector, aiming for the truly unique and amazed by the ability to hold a piece in his hands, which stems not from this World.

Chladni's Heirs made their mark in professional circles as well in the specialized collectorship in recovering the whole variety of different types of these fascinating visitors from space, supplying them to research and to the passionate enthusiast. The fruits of their labour comprise some of the scientifically most important and unique meteorites, now housed in institutional and private collections around the World. Though may it be the highly the highly aesthetic specimen for the veteran collector or the museum's display, the Martian or lunar rock for the university lab, or the affordable shooting star for the beginner, it is the compassion and fascination for these rare extraterrestrial guests, which we all have in common and which was couched so felicitously 170 years ago by Franz Ritter von Kobell: "For how long many a meteor stone may have flown his circular flight as a small descendent of a planet, through the midst of the immense masses of the great regents of the skies, what revolution may have torn him away into the wide, strange stellar space and have separated him from his mother Ceres or Pallas or whatever her name, how many things may have befallen him during his voyages through those dizzy heights, which man can hardly comprise in their extent, except for those moments of sublime feeling, which at the same time make him bough to HIM who hath created and disposed as HE pleaseth?! Such are the thoughts that rise in us, as we look at the black, mysterious stone, which now lies cold and motionless in our cabinets and which, methinks, in bright nights, when he sees the distant stars twinkling outside, may yearn back to the times of his freedom with its audacious flights, that he relished in."

Ernst Florens Friedrich Chladni (1756-1827) Is the founder of modern meteoritics. It was him, who firstly discovered and postulated the extraterrestrial origin of meteorites. Aside of his ingenious achievements in the fields of physics, meteorites stayed his true passion throughout his illustrious life. In their attempt to recover permanently meteorites, which could add new information about nature and space, and in their ambition to propagate knowledge about these subjects, Chladni's Heirs retrace the steps of Chladni, the father of meteorites.

NWA 4925 - Presenting the newest Rock from Mars An important olivine-phyric shergottite is now available! Our NWA 4925 displays huge colourful phaenocrysts in bulky pyroxene framed by a light rind: One of the the most appealing shergottites! Only one suspected pairing of 10grams exists.
